The sense of speed and challenging spirit seen in Korea

Hello, this is Ichiki from Sync Logistics.

Today, I’d like to share some insights from my business trip to South Korea last month.

■ Simple logistics flow

At Incheon Port, I was impressed by how simply and efficiently the entire logistics flow was designed. Near the port, a vast area that used to be an amusement park has been redeveloped into a zone where all processes for used cars – procurement, sales, maintenance, and container loading (vanning) – can be completed in one area.

All processes of used car shipping are completed in the same area. The entire workflow – from procurement to final shipment – has been structured for maximum efficiency.

■ The Impact of Young Talent

What impressed me most was the incredible speed at which young professionals take action – even more so than the port’s efficient infrastructure. Perhaps because they are trained in a highly competitive environment from an early stage, their decision-making and execution are remarkably prompt. They decide without hesitation, move immediately, and pursue outcomes with determination – their pace is reflected a strong passion for their work.

In fact, the president of the trading company we met was aged 40, and the president of the shipping line was just 37. It was striking for me to see younger generations naturally taking on central roles within the port logistics sector. I believe that this environment – where young leaders are expected to “take the helm” early in their careers – directly contributes to their quick decision-making and sharp execution.

Here let me introduce another episode that perfectly embodied both the business speed in Korea and the ambition of young professionals. It was the behavior of a young employee who joined the meeting. As soon as we wrapped up, he compiled the meeting minutes, translated them into Japanese using AI, and sent them to us. This ability to “move without hesitation when action is needed” – that sharp initial acceleration – made me realize that it is precisely this quality that fuels a company’s adaptability and speed of growth.

■ Growth and Responsibility in Mind

What left the strongest impression on me this time was not just the logistics system itself, but the energy and passion of the young professionals working there. Their quick decision-making, drive, and willingness to take responsibility – each of these factors directly shapes the speed of a company’s growth.

It made me realize that we are also expected to demonstrate the same level of judgment and action. It reinforced the importance of believing in our own potential, embracing opportunities for growth, and approaching challenges with ambition. I feel a renewed determination to develop myself while supporting the growth of young employees and fostering a culture where we can continue taking on challenges together.
