Completing our Tokyo Head Office’s Relocation: A Place Where Diverse People Can Gather

Hello, I’m Ichiki of Sync Logistics.

In this issue, I’d like to share our Tokyo head office’s relocation last February.

■The background of our head office’s relocation

We began operations at our new Tokyo head office last February, when it moved from Hamamatsucho to Shimbashi. Our Hamamatsucho office opened in October 2021, so we moved after about two and half years.

Aside from an increase in employees that made our previous office feel small, we also moved because I wanted to foster a unified corporate culture.

Our old Hamamatsucho office actually had a satellite office, so our head office employees were split between two locations. Even though our head office and our satellite office were only a few meters apart, having separate offices meant two different work environments, and I felt that two separate corporate cultures were being fostered.

It’s said that when the number of people increases as an organization grows, it’s easy for sectionalism to occur. Sectionalism is similar to having a territorial mindset, wherein cooperation between departments weakens, leading to risks such as reduced productivity. Before getting mired in such a situation, I thought of consolidating the two locations which bore the functions of our head office, and cultivating our corporate culture in all of our employees.

■An opportunity to find new talents during intra-company projects

I entrusted the head office relocation to a team led by the manager of the sales department, which also planned the new office’s concept, layout, and interior design.

Creating an office space is a difficult task, requiring accuracy and creativity. Up until now, I have created ten office spaces, and it was very difficult and stressful because I also had to do my regular work. Even under such circumstances, it’s important to pay attention to detail in order to improve the output’s quality. While keeping this in mind, the experience of completing such projects despite the struggle has led to each individual’s personal improvement.

Moreover, when employees are entrusted with such projects, new talents can be found. For example, we may find that employees who usually work in operations with routine, fixed tasks may also have creative skills. In terms of drawing out employees’ hidden talents and potential, I think internal projects such as relocation are meaningful.

■A hub where diverse people can gather for the advancement of business

Our Tokyo Head Office in Shimbashi is easily accessible from Tokyo Station, Haneda, and Narita. By fully utilizing its location with easy access to and from local and international places, I hope it will be a venue where diverse people from Japan and abroad can gather.

I value listening to the opinions of a wide variety of people when creating new services and solving problems. From my experiences, I believe it’s easier to generate effective ideas and breakthroughs by talking with people who have different ways of seeing and approaching things.

Please use our new office as a place to interact with others in order to advance your business. We will redouble our efforts in turning our company into one that consistently implements and realizes various ideas.

Thank you for your time.
