Forming a business vision by integrating diverse opinions.

Hello, I’m Ichiki of Sync Logistics.

In this issue, I’d like to talk about the process of conceptualizing our development project in Shinmoji, Kitakyushu.

After the kick-off event in Shinmoji

At the end of May, we launched our Integrated Logistics Base Development Project which is located at Marina Cross Shinmoji in Kitakyushu City. In July, we began container vanning services at the aforementioned location. Currently, we have other new plans in progress, for which we are receiving many inquiries.

As we have announced in our press release, in collaboration with Kitakyushu City and local businesses, we aim to fully utilize Shinmoji’s strategic advantages as a logistics hub. Having been underutilized for almost 40 years, it is my strong intent to revitalize this 73,000 square meter business site in cooperation with the local community.

Interviews with more than 50 people

In order to refine this project’s concept, the first thing we did was to interview people who have a connection to Shinmoji. For a year and a half, we talked to more than 50 people including government officials, local companies, companies in the Kansai and Kanto areas that have businesses in Shinmoji, and think tanks, asking their expectations and opinions on the challenges of having Shinmoji as a logistics base. In our interviews, things such as “actual strengths and challenges” and “potential strengths and issues still widely unknown even in the region” were clarified. For example, being blessed with mild maritime conditions all year round, Shinmoji has the potential to function as a trade and logistics hub in East Asia.

Even though people in companies deeply rooted in the area have already seen or heard of such potential in some way or another, there were probably many of them who were still not confident about the extent of Shinmoji’s appeal. However, by objectively and quantitatively analyzing materials and data gleaned from our interviews, we are confident of Shinmoji’s value and competitive advantage.

A vision for business as vivid as a painting

The process of meticulously assembling the recognized strengths and challenges of Shinmoji is akin to painting a picture. By layering each element like strokes on a canvas, the once vague business vision for Shinmoji emerges as a beautiful painting.

Based on a clear business vision, we can uncover and utilize Shinmoji’s potential strengths. By increasing competitiveness, we can also improve issues that have become bottlenecks.

In doing so, I believe we can maximize Shinmoji’s potential and contribute to the logistics revitalization of Kitakyushu City as a whole.

In the process of promoting the project in several open-minded discussions, we have received many positive comments from various people such as “I’d like to work with you,” and “If these conditions are met, I’d like to join.” In order to smoothly disseminate even more valuable things in the world, I believe it is important to have open-minded, constructive, and proactive discussions first.
